The journey toward sustainable flexible packaging is gaining momentum. We are thrilled to share that the expansion of our commercial demonstration unit at Domsjö Fabriker is moving steadily forward.
This expansion is a cornerstone of the LIFEWOODMER project, co-funded by the EU LIFE Programme. The project is designed to significantly enhance the formulation capacity of WOODMER Seal, our high-performing, bio-based heat seal coating. By scaling this technology, we are providing the industry with a truly sustainable alternative for the flexible packaging market.
A Productive On-Site Monitoring Visit
We recently had the pleasure of hosting Aija Kazocina, a LIFE Monitoring Expert from ELMEN, for a comprehensive project review. The visit took place across both our production site at Domsjö Fabriker in Örnskjöldsvik and our headquarters and R&D in Stockholm.
During the visit, we reviewed the “Preparation Stage” of the project—the critical groundwork that ensures long-term success. Key highlights from our discussions included:
- Timeline Optimization: We have refined our project timeline to better align with current logistics while keeping the original project scope fully intact.
- Communication Strategy: We identified certain areas to be emphasized regarding how we share our progress and the benefits of WOODMER Seal with the global market.
- Path Forward: The visit concluded with a positive outlook, confirming that the project is firmly on track.

Moving into next phase in the project
With the preparation phase successfully navigated, Ecohelix is now transitioning into the next phase in the project. We are eager to see our plans materialise, with the construction of the 700 tonnes demo-plant that enables larger scale production of WOODMER and WOODMER Seal.
