Ecohelix and Domsjö Fabriker signed an agreement, which allows Ecohelix to start building 500 tn/year commercial demo production unit. Agreement is a continuum to the strong partnership between Ecohelix and Domsjö Fabriker and enables commercialization of Ecohelix WOODMER® biopolymers by bringing first products to the markets in mid 2026. This is an important milestone in our shared journey towards the more sustainable future and circular bioeconomy.
Ecohelix has worked closely with industrial customers in verifying WOODMER® products in various applications. Test work has been done also on industrial scale with good results. We have reach especially promising results in heat seal coatings in various applications, where WOODMER®Seal has shown relevant and expected properties and runnability in actual industrial production environment. Commercial demo capacity at Domsjö brings Ecohelix to the forefront of production of wood-based biopolymers, which have an increasing demand on the markets.
Ecohelix utilizes the side streams from Domsjö Fabriker´s production with the technology that valorizes those side streams into various biopolymer products to be utilized in packaging and construction applications. The partnership and production model enhances sustainability and effectiveness and is a true example of industrial symbiosis.
